Dear Fellow Republicans:
It is the beginning of 2012 and time again for another election cycle in Colorado and in our nation. There hasn’t been a more important election in our lifetimes. This is probably the last chance to make sure this country does not become the United Socialist States of America. Because of the recent redistricting in Colorado, there have been changes for Otero County in each of our districts. We are now entirely in Congressional District 4, our State Senate District 35 is new and structured differently than State Senate District 2, and we are in the new State House District 47 instead of House District 64.
The caucuses in Colorado will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. There is a list of precinct locations on our website. With the exception of Rocky Ford, all locations have remained the same as 2010. The County Assembly will be held on Sat., March 10 at 2:00 p.m. at La Junta High School, and the State Assembly will be held in Denver on April 13-14, 2012. Each of these meetings is our opportunity as citizens and voters to take part and make a difference in what happens. By volunteering to take part in these meetings in Otero County, you have a great opportunity to make a difference.
I am asking you to take time to contact as many people as you can. Urge them to attend their caucuses and let their voice be heard. Because of the election of 2010, the rural counties have a larger number of voting delegates at State Assembly. We need to make those votes count and will need participants who are willing to attend. In Colorado, the only way to be eligible to vote at the State Assembly is to attend the caucus to become a delegate to the County Assembly. The County Assembly will then elect delegates to the State Assembly.
Please feel free to contact Vice Chair Ed Hunnicutt, Secretary Kayla Bay, Treasurer Daniel Davis, or myself if you have any questions. All of our contact information is available on our website. Please also consider making a donation to your county party. Along with helping our local candidates, we hope to have the funds to offset a portion of the expense incurred by people who attend State Assembly.
Sincerely,
Judy K. Reyher
Chair
